About The RecW

For the past few weeks, I have been working as an intern at The RecW. This is a recording and media school located in Massieville, Ohio. I have been doing a lot of different things to help out over there from cleaning, to fixing cables, to even getting some studio time in. My internship has been a blast so far.

One of the things I was most impressed with going into this internship and finding out more about the school was just how many prolific graduates they have. The RecW, formerly the Recording Workshop, has a very long and interesting history of graduates who have become massively successful in their fields. One of the most interesting things about the building is all of the plaques on the walls of different projects people have worked on. You have things from all facets of the industry, like recording with Whitney Houston's first album or Ziggy Stardust. There's also people who do live sound like the Eras tour or the Nickleback world tour. You even have people who have worked in film and T.V. like Young Sheldon or The Matrix. The amount of people who have worked on some of the biggest projects of the last 70 years that have graduated from this school is staggering. One of the biggest for me out of these projects was the sound engineer for a film called "The Sound of Metal". I loved this movie when I saw it and I was awestruck by the sound design in it. It was one of my inspirations for becoming an audio engineer. It just so happens that the guy who did the sound design for it was a graduate of The RecW.

I am so happy with my internship so far and I am excited to continue it into the following weeks!
