Working at The RecW!

I've been working at The RecW for a few weeks now and have settled into the routine. I wanted to describe what all I do over there is.
The first thing I do in the morning is make a pot of coffee for everyone. I make sure to get it ready and hot for when everyone comes in to teach or work. While the coffee is brewing, I begin the cleaning process.
The morning clean is split into 8 different phases. This is the most efficient way to clean the building, especially on days where more rooms need cleaned. During all of these phases, I walk a loop around the building starting in our office and ending in the lecture hall before grabbing the next cleaning items and starting again.
I start with phase 1, dusting and cobweb hunting. I walk the entire building with our duster and knock any cobwebs down.
Phase 2 is wiping down any surfaces. I take Clorox wipes to any surface that has been used recently or will be used today.
Phase 3 is glass cleaning. This includes both studio glass and the front door.
Phase 4 is toilet bowl cleaning. Pretty self explanatory there.
Phase 5 is floor cleaning. I start with a Swiffer mop and get all of the hard surfaces, especially studio floors. After hard surfaces are done, its on to the carpet with the vacuum.
Phase 6 is collecting the trash from all of the trash cans in the building, we take one bag and empty all of the cans into it.
Phase 7 is going around and restocking any consumable items like pens, paper, hand soap, paper towels, or any items from our bistro.
The final phase is spraying deodorizer spray into all of the air vents to keep the building smelling as nice as possible.
After the morning clean is done, I have different tasks to do depending on the day of the week. I do housing checks on our students, desk duty when our receptionist isn't there, checking that files are sorted where they are supposed to be, and checking cables.
One of my favorite things to do is cable repair, which I have an entire other blog post you can check out about.
Whenever we have tours coming through, it is also my responsibility to help set up demos in all of our studios to show what capabilities our spaces have. This includes our bedroom studio, our analog studio, our digital studio, our Atmos room, our live studio, and our podcasting room. Each has their own unique demo to show what we can do.
I love working over here and I am having a great internship so far! This is just a little bit of what my day to day is like!
